Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the practice of inserting very fine, sterile needles into strategic places in the body known as acupuncture points. Research has shown that these acupuncture points have increased numbers of small blood vessels, nerve endings, and lymphatic vessels when compared to surrounding tissues.
The insertion of the acupuncture needles stimulates the nervous system, increases blood circulation to an area, and releases endorphins and other substances which are the body’s own pain relievers, anti-inflammatory agents, and immune system stimulants. Acupuncture can be combined with other traditional forms of medical care to achieve optimal health.
